How we work

Two methods run through every Just Gold project: The Ethos Method for delivery, and The Praxis Framework for community engagement.

The Ethos Method: our delivery model

The Ethos Method is how we deliver strategy, creative, training, advisory and campaign work. Its five phases are designed for clarity, inclusion and value that lasts after the engagement ends.

  1. Listen deeply. Discovery led by empathy, to understand your context, goals and stakeholders. Tools: stakeholder mapping, consultation workshops, focus groups, surveys and qualitative insight.
  2. Co design solutions. We develop the strategy and delivery framework with you, so the project is built for real conditions. Tools: design thinking, workshops and rapid prototyping.
  3. Deliver with excellence. Delivery with discipline, care and inclusion, from strategy through to execution. Tools: agile workflows, multiplatform production and integrated delivery.
  4. Measure impact. Outcome tracking aligned to stakeholder priorities and project goals, built in at every stage. Tools: evaluation frameworks, data mapping, KPIs, narrative reporting and client reporting dashboards.
  5. Build capacity. Knowledge transfer and infrastructure so your organisation can carry the work forward on its own. Tools: custom training, eLearning, instructional design and strategic handovers.

The Praxis Framework: inclusive community consultation

The Praxis Framework is our specialist model for community engagement, consultation and policy design. We apply it where engagement has to be deep, inclusive and culturally safe. It was developed over years of practice in partnership with the Aurum Foundation, and it reflects best practice in trauma informed, intersectional and community led consultation.

Its principles are:

  • Intersectionality
  • Cultural and historical intelligence
  • Trauma informed practice
  • Community voice and leadership
  • Accessibility across all formats
  • Intergenerational and cross sector insight

Which method applies where

The Ethos Method governs strategy, creative, training, advisory and campaign work. The Praxis Framework governs consultation, policy, lived experience and advocacy projects, and any initiative where the outcome for the community decides whether the project has succeeded. Many engagements use both.

The methods in practice

  • The Australian Sports Commission’s national Intersectionality Framework for Governance and Leadership was delivered through The Ethos Method and informed by The Praxis Framework.
  • Our research for Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras on relations between LGBTIQA+ communities and the NSW Police Force was delivered through The Praxis Framework.
  • Autistic Pride Day is designed and delivered through The Praxis Framework.
