ResultThe report set out three positions: a floor on income from outside government, financial conservatism named as a governance risk, and a direction to build influence beyond SydWest's footprint.

Kyriakos Gold, Founder of Just Gold, with Elfa Moraitakis, CEO of SydWest Multicultural Services

Overview

SydWest has served Western Sydney since 1985 and, after three mergers, runs aged care, disability, multicultural services and housing. Just Gold’s work with SydWest began in early 2026 with a brief to facilitate a board workshop: two facilitated days with the board and senior leadership in March 2026.

Challenge

SydWest operates in a funding system that is centralising. The board needed to settle whether its regional footprint is a strategy or simply where the organisation happens to have ended up.

Approach

[Placeholder: method (The Ethos Method or The Praxis Framework) to be confirmed]

Just Gold used the two days to put that one question in front of the board. The report that followed took positions rather than listing options.

Deliverables

  • Two facilitated workshop days with the board and senior leadership
  • A written report, delivered within five business days of the workshop

Outcome

The report set out three positions: a floor on income from outside government, financial conservatism named as a governance risk, and a direction to build influence beyond SydWest’s footprint. The board then asked Just Gold to lead the strategy that followed.
