Urgent issues go to the CEO straight away.

We look after the people affected first.

We communicate clearly, inside and outside Just Gold.

We own what happened.

Afterwards, we review what went wrong and make changes.

In plain language

A crisis can be physical danger, public backlash, damage to our reputation or a serious failure in how we deliver. Anyone can raise the alarm, and urgent issues go to the CEO straight away. We look after the people affected first, before worrying about the public story. We communicate openly and own what happened. Afterwards we review what went wrong and change our systems.

Section 5: Risk, crisis and compliance

When things go wrong, our values matter most. This section outlines how we assess risks, respond to crises, and ensure legal and ethical compliance. It helps protect our people, partners, and purpose under pressure.

Policy statement

Crises test our integrity. Whether the issue is reputational, operational, or interpersonal, Just Gold is committed to timely, transparent, and values led crisis response. We prioritise human safety, community trust, and clarity of action.

Definition of crisis

A crisis may involve:

  • Physical danger or harm (for example an incident at an event or office)
  • Public relations risk (for example backlash, misinformation, legal threat)
  • Reputational or brand damage
  • Breach of legal or contractual obligations
  • Systemic failure in service delivery or governance

Response principles

  • Act fast, with care and accuracy
  • Prioritise impacted people first, before public narratives
  • Communicate clearly, internally and externally
  • Avoid defensiveness: own what happened and what will change

Response process

  1. Alert: Any staff member may raise the alarm. Urgent issues must be escalated to the CEO immediately.
  2. Assessment: CEO and relevant leads conduct an initial risk and impact analysis.
  3. Containment: Activate any necessary legal, safety or media protocols.
  4. Communication: Identify affected stakeholders and communicate transparently.
  5. Review: Conduct post crisis debrief and implement systemic changes.

Crisis team

The CEO may convene a temporary crisis team including operations, communications, legal, and community safety advisors as needed.

Application

This policy applies to all projects, partners, and personnel across physical, digital, and public spaces.
