We see spending as a kind of power.

We buy from people doing good, not doing harm.

We look at the whole life cost, not only the price.

Our tenders include diversity and social value.

We pay freelancers and artists from underrepresented groups above the minimum.

We avoid suppliers who use unpaid or unfair work.

In plain language

Just Gold sees spending as a form of power, so we spend with care. We buy from organisations doing good and look at the full life cost, not only the price. Our tenders include diversity criteria and give weight to social value. We pay freelancers and artists from underrepresented groups above the minimum. Section 7: Procurement and ethical supply chain

As a certified social enterprise, Just Gold is committed to ethical, inclusive, and sustainable procurement. This section outlines our procurement standards, supplier engagement principles, and expectations around social value and compliance with relevant legislation.

Policy statement

Procurement is a form of power. Just Gold applies ethical and social justice principles to every dollar we spend. This includes applying an intersectional equity lens, even where public procurement rules do not formally require it.

Core principles

  • Buy from those doing good, not those doing harm.
  • Consider lifecycle impact, not just upfront cost.
  • Centre marginalised suppliers in every procurement decision.
  • Ask who is excluded and redesign the process accordingly.

Implementation examples

  • Embedding diversity criteria into all RFQs or tenders
  • Weighting evaluation toward social and cultural value, not just financial quotes
  • Paying above minimum for freelancers or artists from underrepresented groups
  • Avoiding suppliers who undercut through unpaid labour or exploitative models

Application

Applies to all procurement and budgeting decisions, including outsourced work, marketing materials, digital tools, events, and consultants.
