Modern slavery

Just Gold's commitments and due diligence steps to identify and eliminate modern slavery in its operations and supply chain.

Easy Read

This policy is about modern slavery.

Modern slavery means forced labour, child labour or tricking people into work.

It also means trapping people through threats or by using their hardship.

We check suppliers before we work with them.

We ask suppliers to sign a modern slavery declaration.

We end work with suppliers who exploit people.

Our staff learn to spot the warning signs.

This applies to every purchase and partnership, big or small.

Section 6: Sustainability and social impact

We don't deliver impact; we are impact. This section formalises our commitment to sustainable operations, ethical partnerships, and social change. It reflects our identity as a certified social enterprise and our alignment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Policy statement

Just Gold takes a proactive stance against all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, child labour, deceptive recruitment, and exploitation through coercion or abuse of vulnerability. We commit to identifying and eliminating modern slavery risks in our operations and supply chain.

  • Lived experience must inform how risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Transparency, not perfection, is the standard we hold ourselves and others to.

  • Publish a modern slavery statement annually where legally or ethically appropriate.

Due diligence steps

  • Pre engagement screening for suppliers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Annual supplier declarations for high risk or overseas vendors.
  • Spot audits where justified by risk or spend.
  • Use of the Modern Slavery Due Diligence Checklist (see Glossary and tools).

Application

Applies to all procurement, hiring, partnerships, and supply chain engagements, regardless of scale.
